FEATURING: DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE
CELEBRATING THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF RADIO WOODSTOCK
MUSIC, FARM-TO-TABLE FOOD, CRAFTS AND LIBATIONS
TICKETS ON-SALE THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 6TH, AT 10AM
WOODSTOCK, NY – Radio Woodstock 100.1, will present the inaugural Hangout on the Hudson, a one day music festival to be held on Saturday August 1, 2020, at the majestic Bowdoin Park, on the banks on the Hudson River, in Poughkeepsie, NY. The festival will be produced by Radio Woodstock’s live events company, Chet-5 Productions, Inc., with support from Dutchess Tourism, Inc.
Headlining the festival is Death Cab For Cutie, an American alternative rock band that rose from being a side project to becoming one of the most exciting groups emerging from the indie rock scene, Death Cab for Cutie has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album in 2015. Their ninth studio album “Thank You for Today” was released to critical acclaim in August 2018.
Also featured at the Hangout on the Hudson will be Real Estate. Hailing from Ridgewood, New Jersey, Real Estate helped usher in a warm, hazy style of indie rock that came into prominence in the late 2000s and the start of the 2010s. The band's breezy melodies, jangly guitars, relaxed vocals, and generally laid-back approach to songcraft hide musical complexities. Their fifth studio album, “The Main Thing,” was just released and features their first single, “Paper Cup.”
Gary Chetkof, Radio Woodstock’s principal owner and the President of Chet-5 Productions, whose affiliated companies founded and co-produced the Mountain Jam, Taste of Country and Speed of Sound Festivals in the Hudson Valley, said “whenever Radio Woodstock reaches a significant milestone, we like to celebrate with a big outdoor party and invite the entire community, especially our listeners, sponsors, favorite bands, and local restaurants, craft breweries and distilleries. We always seek out beautiful and unique settings, and we are thrilled to make Bowdoin Park, the jewel of the Hudson Valley parks, our home for this festival. We encourage people to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and frisbees, and we will also have fun games and activities like volleyball and corn hole.”
Bowdoin Park features scenic views of the Hudson River, open areas for sunbathing and lounging, a splash pad to cool off, hiking trails, and an award-winning handicapped-accessible playground area.
The Hangout on the Hudson will feature some of the best of the Hudson Valley's farm-to-table food vendors, artisans and local brews and distilleries.
General admission and VIP tickets will be available for purchase beginning on Friday, March 6th at 10 am at Hangoutonthehudson.com. General admission tickets prices are $55 in advance and $65 day of show. VIP tickets start at $145 ($155 day of show) and include an exclusive covered lounge area, gourmet food all day, discounted drinks, a special viewing area by the Stage and private bathrooms. Children 8 and under are admitted to the festival for free with a paying adult.
In an effort to encourage ridesharing, Hangout on the Hudson has partnered with Metro-North Railroad and is offering a Gateway Package available for purchase June 1 - August 1. Festival goers can purchase discount rail/admission tickets from any Metro-North ticket office or full-service ticket vending machine (except New Hamburg station). A free shuttle will be provided between the New Hamburg train station and the Hangout on the Hudson. The festival will end in time for concert goers to make their way back on the 11 pm train.
Gates will open at 3 pm, the music will begin at 4 pm with a yet-to-be announced band, followed by Real Estate at 6: PM, and Death Cab for Cutie at 8:30 PM.
Hangout on the Hudson is presented with help from Dutchess Tourism, Inc., Healey Brothers Automotive and Deep Eddy Vodka.

Death Cab for Cutie is an American alternative rock band formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The band is composed of Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Jason McGerr, Dave Depper, and Zac Rae. Death Cab for Cutie rose from being a side project to becoming one of the most exciting groups emerging from the indie rock scene of the 2000’s. They have been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album for their 2015 release, Kintsugi. Their ninth studio album Thank You for Today was released on August 17, 2018.
“For a band in its third decade… Death Cab hasn't lost its gift for pairing Gibbard's soft ruminations with propulsive arrangements that know just when to sparkle and sway. But even more importantly, Gibbard himself still sings with a sense of purpose, keenly articulating a distinct swirl of nostalgia, loss and hope for new beginnings.” — NPR MUSIC
